Sargeant Families Blog - December 14th

Thank you to our wonderful PTC who put on our first ever Polar Express Night!  The multi was jam packed with families for the night.  

Winter break is approaching which gives plenty of time to cozy up to a good book.  Reading time is something that is important to continue even when on vacation from school.  Make it something fun!  Read in your pajamas, read with flashlights, read inside a fort...the ideas are endless.  If you are in need of books for you kids to read at home, please reach out to Mrs. Peck and will make sure you get some.  Stay tuned for a special date where there will be a book read on Sargeant's Facebook over break for all to enjoy!

Please check out the lost and found.  The container is overflowing.  All items left will be donated over Winter Break.

¡Gracias a nuestro maravilloso PTC que organizó nuestra primera Noche Polar Express! El multi estaba repleto de familias para la noche.

Se acercan las vacaciones de invierno, lo que da tiempo suficiente para acomodar un buen libro. El tiempo de lectura es algo que es importante continuar incluso cuando está de vacaciones de la escuela. ¡Haz que sea algo divertido! Lea sus pijamas, lea con linternas, lea dentro de un fuerte ... las ideas son infinitas. Si necesita libros para que los niños lean en casa, comuníquese con la Sra. Peck y asegúrese de obtener algunos. ¡Estén atentos para una fecha especial donde habrá un libro leído en el descanso de Facebook de Sargeant para que todos lo disfruten!

Sargeant Families Blog - December 9th

Camp Fire Donations 
Last Sunday morning some of our staff drove a van full of books and school supplies to an elementary school in Chico, which will be helping and schooling students who lost their own school in the Camp Fire. Upon arrival, they met a 6 year old boy and his grandpa who were checking out the campus. The family lost everything in the fire, and the boy was going to start school there on Monday. Our staff was able to personally give him a backpack, school supplies, books and a gift card. They also spent time with the family reading and hearing their story. THANK YOU to everyone who donated books and school supplies. The donations will help a lot of students move forward and have a sense of normalcy.

Front Parking Lot
Please make sure to pull all the way forward when dropping off or picking up students. This allows us to get as many cars as possible into the parking lot. If you are crossing through the parking lot to meet a child, please use the crosswalk by the multi purpose room or cross in front of the pick up line by the kinder area. It is very unsafe to cross in between cars and it holds up the line. Thank you!

Roseville Holiday Food Basket

If you or someone you know is in need this holiday season, check out the application linked above to receive a holiday food basket. 

Thank You Eich Students! 

8th graders at Eich participate in a community service project where they have to plan, organize and carry out a project that benefits the community.  These boys pictured below, Owen, Ryu, and Julian, created a bake sale to raise money to purchase recess equipment for our school.  The boys were involved in baking the items, selling them before and after school, and purchasing the equipment.  They will present their project at the end of the year for school.  Sending them a big THANK YOU!

Partnering with Our Community 
This weekend a new restaurant in The Fountains, Burger Lounge, had a private event to celebrate their opening.  Guests were invited to dine at the Burger Lounge for free and could donate money.  All money donated will be given to our school for our garden.  We are thankful for the support of Burger Lounge and their willingness to give to local schools.

Campamento de donaciones de fuego

El domingo por la mañana, parte de nuestro personal condujo una camioneta llena de libros y útiles escolares a una escuela primaria en Chico, que ayudará y educará a los estudiantes que perdieron su propia escuela en el Camp Fire. Al llegar, se encontraron con un chico de 6 años y su abuelo que estaban en el campus. La familia perdió todo en el incendio y el muchacho iba a comenzar la escuela allí el lunes. Nuestro personal pudo darle personalmente una mochila, útiles escolares, libros y una tarjeta de regalo. También pasaron tiempo con la familia leyendo y escuchando su historia. GRACIAS a todos los que donaron libros y útiles escolares. Las donaciones ayudarán a muchos estudiantes a avanzar y tener un sentido de normalidad.

Estacionamiento en frente

Por favor, asegúrese de hacer todo el camino hacia adelante cuando deje o recoja a los estudiantes. Esto nos permite obtener la mayor cantidad posible de automóviles en el estacionamiento. Si está cruzando el estacionamiento para encontrarse con un niño, use el cruce de peatones que se encuentra junto a la sala de usos múltiples o cruce frente a la línea de recogida en el área de kinder. Es muy peligroso cruzar entre los coches y mantiene la línea. ¡Gracias!

Si usted o alguien que conoce está en necesidad esta temporada de fiestas, revise la solicitud vinculada anteriormente para recibir una canasta de alimentos para las fiestas.

Los estudiantes de 8 grado en Eich participan en un proyecto de servicio comunitario donde tienen que planificar, organizar y llevar a cabo un proyecto que beneficie a la comunidad. Estos niños en la foto de abajo, Owen, Ryu y Julian, crearon una venta de pasteles para recaudar dinero para comprar equipos de recreo para nuestra escuela. Los niños se dedicaron a hornear los artículos, a venderlos antes y después de la escuela y a comprar el equipo. Presentarán su proyecto a fin de año para la escuela. Enviándoles un gran GRACIAS!

Asociarse con nuestra comunidad

Este fin de semana, un nuevo restaurante en The Fountains, Burger Lounge, tuvo un evento privado para celebrar su apertura. Los invitados fueron invitados a cenar en el Burger Lounge gratis y pudieron donar dinero. Todo el dinero donado será entregado a nuestra escuela para nuestro jardín. Estamos agradecidos por el apoyo de Burger Lounge y su disposición para dar a las escuelas locales.

Thank you to all of the families that joined us for Family Math Night. We had a great evening. Our 5th grade Station Facilitators were amazing!

IB Attribute for December: Balanced

Students who are BALANCED are healthy and are aware that eating properly and exercising
is important in their lives.  They understand that is important to have a balance between
the physical and mental aspects of their bodies.

How can families help at home?
Role model this attribute by: playing outside, going to the park, making dinner together,
reading a book, playing a board game, going on a walk, and doing chores as a family.

Drop Off/Pick Up
Please remember that the area on N. Cirby (pictured below) where the cones are out are not a place to leave your car parked and unattended. This is a moving line to drop off and pick kids up.

GATE Identification 

The 2019-2020 school year GATE identification test will be administered at the

District Office for students currently in 2nd – 7th grade. The students will take the

Otis-Lennon School Ability Test, OLSAT, that tests abstract thinking and reasoning

ability. Students must attend one of the testing dates on the OLSAT Parent

Permission Form in order to complete the testing by the district. The Parent

Permission Forms will be made available on November 1, 2018 on our district

website @ www.rcsdk8.org under the “Parent” tab. All forms must be returned to

the District Office by January 11, 2019 if you would like your student tested. There

are no exceptions as materials are ordered based on the number of returned forms.

Make sure you check the RCSD website for more information regarding GATE

services and testing. Click on the Main Menu and then under Programs – Gifted and

Talented Education.

Holiday Food Basket
The Annual Holiday Food Basket Program is actively seeking eligible families who require additional assistance this holiday season.  Please return the completed application to the Placer County Food Bank (8284 Industrial Avenue or info@placerfoodbank.org) by December 14th in order to receive your free food basket on December 22nd.

La prueba de identificación GATE del año escolar 2019-2020 se administrará en el
