Help us celebrate the amazing teachers and all other staff that make Sargeant an amazing place to learn and grow.

Next week, May 1-5, is Teacher Appreciation Week! We are so excited to celebrate our amazing teachers for all that they do! Here are some fun ideas you can do to show our teachers how much they mean to us!
  • Monday- Give your teacher a thumbs up, a high-five, or a hug.
  • Tuesday- Make a homemade card or write a poem for your teacher.
  • Wednesday- Bring your teacher a small gift, homemade or purchased.
  • Thursday- Bring your teacher a homemade bookmark.
  • Friday- Bring your teacher their favorite snack or candy (you can find your teacher's favorite things here).
The PTC will be showering our teachers in treats all week! On Thursday, May 4 they will be hosting a popcorn bar for our teachers in the break room. If you would like to donate toppings for the popcorn please click on this SignUp Genius link.

Thank you for all you do to make our community great!

Parking lot safety: Please drive cautiously and safely around the school, especially during drop-off/pick-up.  Many cars have been observed roll through stop signs and turning left unsafely at the exit.  Please observe arrows, painted curbs, signs, and staff direction for the safety of our students and families.

Field Day Fun is Coming Soon...

Save the Date: May 23rd

We need volunteers to make this event a success.  Please check out the Sargeant's 2023 Field Day Sign Up Genius to get involved in the event.

The Book Corner

Last week The Book Corner was all about fractured/twisted fairy tales.  Most of these were picture books.  This week, we are once again featuring fairy tales, but for kids that have moved beyond picture books.

The Land of Stories: This series tells the tale of twins Alex and Conner. Through the mysterious powers of a cherished book of stories, they leave their world behind and find themselves in a foreign land full of wonder and magic where they come face-to-face with fairy tale characters they grew up reading about.

You can find this series in our school library!  They are waiting for you!

Book Corner
Hello from The Book Corner.  This week Mrs O'Connors and Mrs. Vandivier are celebrating all things fairy tale!  Our school library has a great collection.  We also have a wonderful collection of twisted, or fractured, fairy tales.

Twisted, or fractured, fairy tales are super fun books usually told from a different point of view.  For example, in The True Story of the Three Little Pigs, the story is told from the Wolf's perspective.  And author Josh Funk has an "It's Not" series where the narrator interacts with the main characters who mix the stories up!

If your child loves fairy tales, encourage them to give these a try.  And they would be fun to read together!

Book Corner

The Book Corner is back and we have some great shares this week, especially as sports are kicking into high gear! Many of our students are looking for sports related themes and we have some great choices in the library!

The first choice is an author pick...Mike Lupica! He writes fictional stories about different sports. His books are all about teamwork and the love of sport! His books have both male and female leads!

The next pick is the Who is..., What is...series. These are nonfiction books that tell all about the life of your favorite player (like Who is Michael Jordan?) or about how something came to be (like What is the Super Bowl?). This series isn't just about sports though - it also talks about many interests that kids have (like Who is Walt Disney? or What is the Amazon Rain Forest?)

Wishing you a wonderful weekend and happy reading!
