Our Last Week of School

THANK YOU Sargeant Families

It is with our deepest appreciation that we say THANK YOU for a wonderful year.  We had our share of uncertainty and questions….BUT we also had a far greater amount of love, grace, patience, and kindness.  We are a tremendous community!   We appreciate all of your support.  As we enter this final week with anticipation and excitement, let’s embrace the festivities and fun.

2:00 Dismissal is EVERY DAY THIS WEEK!

Please make arrangements to pick up your child each day at 2:00.

Field Day is Monday 5/23

Monday’s field day is going to be fun-filled and exciting.  Please send your child with sunscreen on (apply at home as we are not allowed to apply it at school).  The children will be in the sun outside from 9:00am - 12:00pm.  They also need a water bottle and shoes they can run around in.  We will be BBQing hamburgers and serving it with, chips, fruit, a vegetable, and a cookie for every child that wants one.  If your child would rather have lunch from home, please send your child with a regular lunch.

Last Day of School Walk-Up

On the last day of school, Thursday 5/26, our students will participate in a “walk-up” to the next grade level.  This is a quick activity we will do with all students after lunch.  Please send your child to school in the following colored t-shirt on the last day of school.

TK/Kinder: Red

First: Orange

Second: Yellow

Third: Green

Fourth: Purple

Fifth: Blue

Overdue Library Books

Library books are due NOW! Please look for an email from Lauren O’Connors, our Librarian, regarding any overdue books your child has.  Books can be turned into the library slot inside the library, brought into the office, or given to your child’s teacher.   If you have any questions, please contact the school office.

IB Attribute for May: Reflective

Students who are REFLECTIVE give thoughtful consideration to their own learning and

consider their personal strengths and weaknesses in a constructive manner.

How can families help at home?

  • Have your child tell you three good things that happened at school.

  • If your child is involved in a sport or activity, ask them what area they need to improve upon.  How do they know?  What can be done to improve?

PBIS Connection

This month we are focused on being Kind! We can create a connection between being REFLECTIVE and KIND.  This is an important step for students as they learn to think about their actions and reflect on their choices.  We can ask our children questions like,

  • “How do you think that made your friend feel?”

  • “What were you thinking about at the time?”

  • “What can you do to make this situation better?”

These all require reflective thinking, which greatly benefit children and their ability to be social and personally aware of their actions and words on others.  Help your child practice this skill at home :)

Miss Hillary & Our Sargeant Support Center

Miss Hillary, our Mental Health Specialist will be out on a medical leave until mid-May.  Due to medical complications, she has experienced the loss of her pregnancy.  She has asked that I share this with all of you so that we can support her when she returns without asking questions or commenting on things that may be hard for her to talk about. We are putting together a gift basket for her and her family during this difficult time.  Thank you for your support.
