April 24 - April 30

CAASPP testing for 3rd-5th grades

This week our CAASPP testing begins for 3rd and 4th grades and continues for 5th grade.  Please be sure to have your student at school ON TIME!  If they are late, they are not allowed to enter their classroom after their class has begun testing.  Ensure that your child eats a healthy breakfast and is ready to do their best.  That is all we ask.  Thank you for your support!

Thank you to our awesome custodians Mike and Steve for repairing our Little Free Library.  The LFL is open to students to read during recess or to keep a book they want to read at home.  We don't need book donations right now, but be on the lookout for when we do :) The LFL is also available after school hours, and we could use your help to keep an eye on it when school is out.

ELAC Meeting: Are you the parent of an English Learner?

Attention 5th-grade families:

Please see the message from one of the Assistant Principals at Eich:

Eich is looking for meal duty supervisors that can help with supervision of our big campus for one hour every day.  The commitment would be approximately 11:00am-12:00pm from Monday-Friday. You are compensated for this position, and would be a part of our incredible staff! If you are able to help Eich and earn a little extra money in the process, please contact Kristina Allison, assistant principal at kallison@rcsdk8.org.

We are so excited to meet you and your student! Go Wildcats!

CAASPP testing begins this week for 5th grade

Our 5th-grade students will begin their state testing this week.  They will take the CAST (Science) test on Wednesday and Thursday, with make-ups on Friday.  If you are the parent of a 5th-grade student, please ensure they arrive at school on time.  They will not be able to enter the classroom once testing has begun.  In addition, please be sure your child eats a healthy breakfast before coming to school.  School breakfast is served daily, starting at 8:15 am, and is available for any student, FREE OF CHARGE.  Thank you for your continued support.

IB Attribute

April: Communicators

Students who are COMMUNICATORS are able to think and communicate in more than one language.  They can express their ideas by speaking, drawing, and writing.

How can families help at home?

  • Encourage your child to stay in touch with relatives and friends who live in other countries by writing letters, drawing pictures, using the phone, or sending emails.

  • Read a book and discuss a book with your child.

  • Ask your child thought-provoking questions and encourage them to discuss them with you.

PBIS Focus: Be Kind

Kindness is defined as the quality of being friendly, generous, and considerate.  Being kind to others means asking if someone is okay, sharing supplies or items a friend might need, and/or considering someone else’s feelings when making a decision or before taking action.  Kindness comes in many forms in our school.  We always encourage our Bulldogs to show kindness to their friends, classmates, teachers and other school staff.  We also talk about using kind words with ourselves and building ourselves up with positive self-talk.  Being kind means using our words to express ourselves.  This ties in nicely with our IB attribute of Communicators. In order to be kind, we must use our actions and words to communicate our thoughts and feelings.  These help us follow up with kind actions.
