October 2nd-October 8th

Thank you for your generosity to help Kirk Elementary in Houston, Texas.  Together, as a school community, we raised over $700!  The money will be sent to Kirk for them to purchase items they need for their students.  Thank you for showing kindness and generosity to others!

Mrs. Peck read We're All Wonders to the students Friday (one class will be Monday!). Take
time to talk to your child about the message of being caring and kind to others.

PE News
We’ve had a great start to PE at Sargeant this year.  During the month of September students have had fun learning and practicing new skills and games.  Kindergarteners have been learning about their own personal space (space around them) and moving in general space (space within boundaries).  They have been practicing a variety of locomotor skills including moving at different levels (low, medium and high) and exploring with different equipment.  First and second graders have been exploring with equipment and have practiced underhand throwing.  They will be progressing from demonstrating underhand throwing to rolling for distance, to increasing their accuracy.  First through third graders have also played tag games where they are practicing moving through open space including chasing and fleeing within boundaries.  Third grade students have practiced underhand rolling skills and are working on rolling for accuracy.   Fourth and fifth graders started the year with cooperative games.  They have practiced underhand rolling games and we will soon be introducing throwing and catching games with offense and defense.    All students in grades one through five are walking/jogging weekly with their lap cards.  They are working towards earning foot charms for every three miles they complete.

Safety Update
Please make sure your children are using the crosswalks by the park and in front of school to cross the street.  Do not encourage them to run across the street and take a short cut.  Also, please do not have them climb the fence in the park to get to the street quickly.  Please have them exit out the open area.

September 25th -29th

Happy Friday!  Hope you have a wonderful weekend!

First Grade Families - Ask your child what they can do to help fill someone's bucket at home or school.

Thank you PTC for the books for Spanish class!

Eagle Scout
Do you know an Eagle Scout looking for a project idea?  We are looking to get a couple of benches made to place around the tree area by the wall ball courts.  The benches would be similar to the ones by the softball field (made by an Eagle Scout).   Please have them contact Rachael Peck if you know of anyone.

Harvest Festival
PTC is hosting their annual Harvest Festival on Thursday, October 26th from 5:00-7:00.  This is a fun, family event and we need your help.  If you would like to help lead one of the teams or help on a team to make this is big success, please come to a special meeting on Wednesday, September 27th at 4:15 in the staff room.  We will be discussing all of the things that need to get done and splitting off into who can help with each item.  Some of the things include: inflatables, games, food, community resources (fire, police, etc) and more.  We would love your help if you can be there!

Drop Off and Pick Up
Please make sure to follow the laws of the road around our school during drop off and pick up.  Kids and parents have been seen running across the street to get to their parked car and there has been some close calls in regards to others cars turning onto the street.  Please take the time to use the crosswalk.  This is a place where people expect to see kids crossing, not the middle of the road.  We want to keep every safe.  Thank you!

Meal Duty Supervisor
We are always accepting applications for meal duty supervisor.  If you are interested please apply through the district office.  Click the link above to take you to the application.

Food Services - Lunch and Breakfast
Healthy school meals are available each day at a reasonable cost. Families that qualify can receive these meals for FREE! Each year a new application is required for families that have not yet been pre-approved. Applications were sent home the first day of school, or you may apply online by clicking here or copying and pasting the following link into your browser: http://www.ezmealapp.com/
