Sargeant Families Blog - November 4th-8th

Many students chose to cash in their Bulldog Bucks for recess in the park this week

Lunch with the Principal to celebrate reading!

Kindness Club
Our Sargeant Kindness Club is now selling Kindness Bracelets for $5 each. Each bracelet is for adults and students alike and are adjustable, waterproof and custom made in Sargeant's school colors. The bracelets are a way to show school unity as well as remind us to be kind daily. Order forms are in the office, or bracelets can be purchased directly from Mrs. Rainey in Room 13 during snack recesses, while supplies last.

Cookie Dough and Other Items
All Sargeant students are currently selling cookie dough, jelly beans, popcorn, and other delicious treats. Student council is organizing the fundraiser and putting the proceeds towards giving field trip money to each grade level. Make checks payable to SARGEANT STUDENT BODY, and turn in all orders by Friday November 15th! Thank you for your support

2020 Gate Identification
The 2020-2021 school year GATE identification test will be administered at the District Office for students currently in 2nd – 7th grade.  The students will take the Otis-Lennon School Ability Test, OLSAT, that tests abstract thinking and reasoning ability.  Students must attend one of the testing dates on the OLSAT Parent Permission Form in order to complete the testing by the district.  The Parent Permission Forms are on our district website @ www.rcsdk8.org Click on the Main Menu and then under Programs – Gifted and Talented Education.  All forms must be returned to the District Office by December 20, 2019 if you would like your student tested. There are no exceptions as materials are ordered based on the number of returned forms. Make sure you check the RCSD website for more information regarding GATE services and testing.

Sargeant Families Blog - October 28th-November 1st

November: Courageous
Students who are COURAGEOUS try to solve problems in a lot of ways.
They are brave when they defend their beliefs to others.

How can families help at home?
- If your child is feeling uneasy about trying something new, encourage them
to attempt it and then reflect on whether they liked the activity and how
it felt to try something new.
- Encourage your child to try something new: food, sport, book, or activity.

IB Update
The past two days we have had a visiting team on campus from the IB World Organization. They have visited classrooms, met with staff, parents, students and district office personnel.  They are gathering evidence to determine if we have met the requirements to become world authorized.  They will be  submitting their report and we will find out the results in about three months.

Road Work Update
As you can tell, the road work was not done in front of the school. They are now hoping to get it done one day next week when there is no school (Thursday or Friday).

Front Parking Lot
Please remember to use the crosswalks in front of the school.  There is a crosswalk by the multi and in front of the drop off line.  It is very dangerous to run through the cars as they are trying to pull forward in line.  Thank you!
