Sargeant Families Blog - September 30th-October 4th

October Attribute - Inquirer
Students who are INQUIRERS are curious about the world. They can conduct research independently. They love learning and discovering new things and will carry this love of learning throughout life.

How can families help at home?
  • Encourage areas of your child’s interest by visiting the library to borrow books that explore these topics.
  • Develop an understanding of the Internet. Work with your son or daughter when the Internet is being used and try to instill the understanding that some Internet sites are not reputable.
  • Let your child know it’s ok to be curious and ask questions about the world.

Save the Date for the Harvest Festival!

City Resurfacing Project
The City of Roseville is continuing their work on the resurfacing of streets throughout the area.  They are scheduled to be working on Ridgecrest Monday morning.  This will prevent parking along the street throughout the day.  They will have flaggers out there at drop off and pick up to help with traffic.  Please allow plenty of time in the morning since there will be slow moving cars and congestion.  They are doing their best to minimize the impact on the school.  Thank you!

Sargeant Families Blog September 23rd-27th

The district maintenance crew has been hard at work this week renovating
our ball walls.  They look great!

Chick Fil A Night
Thank you for coming out to support Sargeant at the CHick Fil A night.  We raised just over $400 to support our musical for this year.  It was a fun night, and we can't wait for the next one in January!

Site Council
We are looking for one more representative for the Site Council Committee.  The Site Council meets 4-5 times throughout the year to look over the school's site plan, academic data, parent survey and safety plan.  We meet on Wednesdays at 3:30.  Please e-mail Principal Peck at rpeck@rcsdk8.org if you are interested.

Academic Vocab
Academic vocabulary is the vocabulary that helps students navigate complex text in all content areas.  They are the words that are in questions and directions that can sometimes mix kids up and make it difficult for them to understand. Starting this week we will be teaching all 3rd-5th graders one academic word a week.  They will be talking about it in class and trying to use it on their own.  We will share the word for the upcoming week in this blog as well. Next week's word: Analyze.

Sargeant Families Blog - September 9th-13th

This week Mrs. Rainey and Mrs. Vandivier kicked off the new
Kindness Club!

Entering Campus Before School
Kids are allowed on campus at 8:35 in the morning.  They can enter through the back gate by the park or the front gate by the multi purpose room.  We try to keep all the other gates closed before school as we don't want kinds entering the center of campus as there is no supervision there in the morning. 1st-5th graders are allowed to play on the playground until 8:45 when the warning bell rings to head to class.

Sargeant Families Blog - September 2nd-6th

IB Corner

The IB Attribute of the month of September is Principled.
Students who are PRINCIPLED have a sense of fairness and are honest with
themselves and with others.  They understand that sometimes there are rules and they follow them.

How can families help at home?

  • Teach and model for your child what it looks like to be a respectful winner or loser in a game.
  • Acknowledge your child when they tell the truth even though they know it will get them in trouble.

Kicking off our first recognition assembly of the year.

A big thank you to Rotary Club of Roseville for their support!  We received a grant to help fund our
books for the Birthday Book Cart.  Please make sure your child stops by the office
on their birthday to pick out a book.
