Social Emotional Video 
We hope you were able to check out last week's social emotional video from Kristen Baisden.  Here is the second video in the series.  The video reviews the frontal lobe and brainstem information from last week, and introduces feelings and naming emotions.  The video also goes over Zones of Regulation.  Here is a Zones of Regulation chart to refer to after he video.  Check it out by yourself and with your child.

Materials Pick Up 

Materials pick up will be Thursday 4/30 for TK, 1st, 2nd and 3rd grade only.  The other grade levels do not need to send anything else home.

10-11:00 Anyone

* If the time slot doesn't work for you, you can come anytime between 7:30 and 11:00. Just trying to spread it out a little.  

* There will also be a box to drop off library books.

Sargeant Families Blog April 20th-24th

Hello Sargeant Families, 

Congratulations, you have made it through the first week of distance learning. 😃I know first hand that the first week can be a struggle as you and your children learn to navigate Google Classroom and the different technology pieces.  I can tell you from experience with my high school son, who started before spring break, it will get better.  He struggled at first, but now we are in a routine.  As a mom, I have learned to be a little more patient, allow him to feel frustrated, listen, and teach him how to email his teachers and ask his teachers for help when he doesn't understand something. Even as a high school student, this is something he isn't used to so he is having to learn to reach out for assistance in a different way.  I encourage you to do the same.  As you know, our teachers have been working hard to create videos and lessons, but this is new to them too.  If your child (or you) have questions, it's ok to reach out and ask.  

If your family is in need of other support at this time, there are a few helpful resources in this blog.  You can also reach out to your child's teacher or myself and we can get you in contact with our community liaison and/or mental health specialist to find supports for your family.  

On another note, I miss the kids so much and I am looking for ways I can connect with them.  Pay attention to your emails next week as I will be sending out an email about lunch time check ins with the principal.  Just a chance to do small group meetings via Zoom to chat with the kids. 🙂

Registration for 20-21
If you haven't completed the returning registration for next school year please make sure to get that done online.  We are continuing to work on getting all students registered so we can make classes for next year.  

If you know someone who has a kindergartener starting next year, please let them know that they need to get him or her registered as soon as possible.  

The office is open for calls and email assistance for registration.  Please note that office staff is not on campus every day so please give time for a return call or email.

Social Emotional Video 
Check out this link  from our school psychologist, Kristen Baisden, and her two field workers.  This video is a support to help people with the changes we are all experiencing. It's a short video that you can watch by yourself or with your child.  

Spanish Google Classroom 
Mrs. Neira has created her own Spanish Google Classroom for kids to access at each grade level.  These are optional activities to continue practicing the Spanish they have learned this year through stories and songs.  If you are not seeing the classroom when your child logs into Clever and you would like it, please contact Ms. Neira for the classroom code. 
Field Trip Refunds 
Now that we have staff back in the office, they will be working on refunds for money that has been paid for field trips.

Hola familias sargentas,


Felicitaciones, has superado la primera semana de aprendizaje a distancia. 😃 Sé de primera mano que la primera semana puede ser difícil ya que usted y sus hijos aprenden a navegar en Google Classroom y las diferentes piezas tecnológicas. Te puedo decir por experiencia con mi hijo de secundaria, que comenzó antes de las vacaciones de primavera, mejorará. Al principio luchó, pero ahora estamos en una rutina. Como madre, aprendí a ser un poco más paciente, permitir que se sienta frustrado, escuchar y enseñarle cómo enviar correos electrónicos a sus maestros y pedirles ayuda cuando no entiende algo. Incluso como estudiante de secundaria, esto es algo a lo que no está acostumbrado, por lo que tiene que aprender a buscar ayuda de una manera diferente. Yo te animo a que hagas lo mismo. Como saben, nuestros maestros han estado trabajando duro para crear videos y lecciones, pero esto también es nuevo para ellos. Si su hijo (o usted) tiene preguntas, está bien comunicarse y preguntar.

Registro para 20-21

April's IB Attribute- Communicators

Students who are COMMUNICATORS are able to think and

communicate in more than one language.  They can express

their ideas by speaking, drawing, and writing.   

How can families help at home?

-Encourage your child to stay in touch with relatives and friends who live in other countries by writing letters, drawing pictures, using the phone, or sending email.

-Read a book and discuss a book with your child.  

-Ask your child thought provoking questions and encourage them to discuss them with you.

Starstruck 
With the school closure being extended, we are going to have to cancel Starstruck.  I know the kids (and adults) will be disappointed but at least you have the dances at home for them to practice and show you. :)  PTC still needs to pay the company for the practices they held up to the point that school was cancelled.  With this being said, if you would like to donate your ticket purchase to help pay for the practices, then we will place the money toward the payment.  We also know that some of you would like a refund, which is completely ok too.  If you would like a refund for your ticket, please fill out the following form by Friday, April 17th: Starstruck Refund. The information on the form will be used to help Jenifer Selos process the refund and it will be mailed to you.  If you have any questions, please contact Jenifer Selos at jenselos@yahoo.com or 916-773-2119. 

April 14th - Virtual Learning Begins
Virtual learning will begin tomorrow, April 14th. All students will need to connect to their teacher through Google Classroom where videos and assignments will be posted.  The items that went home on the instructional material pick up day will be used with the lessons and activities.  Teachers will also be checking in with Zoom or Google Meet once a week to see how the students are doing at home.  

During this learning time at home, we know that each household is different.  Some of you are still leaving to work outside the home, while others are trying to navigate working from home as well.  Please be in communication with your child's teacher on how things are going during this time for your child.

14 de abril - Comienza el aprendizaje virtual

Sargeant Families Blog April 6th-10th

Hello Sargeant Families, 

This week has been a busy week with Chromebook deployment and material pick up.  The best part was being able to connect and see each of you during this time.  I appreciate all of your kind words and support as we all navigate our current situation together.  

As you have heard, campus will be closed the remainder of the school year.  This doesn't mean school is closed; we will continue the year virtually with students engaged and learning.  

I know some of you have already been asking about what this means for picking up other items at school, returning Chromebooks, etc.  Please know that there will be a plan, but for now that's on the back burner as we are just beginning virtual learning on April 14th.  

Along with updates from the district office, I will continue to update you weekly.

Just a few things as we head into spring break...

Chromebooks
Today is the last day to pick up Chromebooks if you need one.  They are available at Eich until 4:00.  Make sure to bring your ID.  

Yearbook
Today is the last day to order a yearbook for your bulldog. Orders are online at https://bit.ly/2U26em6

Starstruck

Food Services
Lunch service will continue at Eich Middle School during Spring Break except for Friday, April 10.  They plan to serve enough food for two lunches and two breakfasts on Thursday, April 9. Remember that kids under 18 can stop by to get food.  You don't need to show ID or anything.  

April 14th - Virtual Learning Begins
Teachers have been preparing for virtual learning to being on Tuesday, April 14th.  At this time teachers will be focusing on reading, writing and math; other activities may be included as optional activities if you would like your child to do more.  There were also be PE activities, music and Spanish.  PE and music will be loaded into your child's teacher's Google Classroom however Spanish has their own Google Classroom that has been open all year.  The classroom teachers will also be checking in with your child each week using either Zoom or Google Meet.  This will provide face to face interaction and connection.  

Teachers will be uploading lesson templates for two weeks at a time so parents can see and plan if needed.  This does not mean that you have to do everything ahead of time.  Parents have asked to see a couple weeks at a time for those who have kids being watched by others while they are still working.  This is just to give you a big picture. The teachers will upload a daily message for the students too to start the day and let them know what they will be working on.  

As always, continue to stay in communication with your child's teacher.

Esta semana ha sido una semana muy ocupada con la implementación de Chromebook y la recolección de material. La mejor parte fue poder conectarse y ver a cada uno de ustedes durante este tiempo. Agradezco todas sus amables palabras y apoyo mientras todos navegamos juntos por nuestra situación actual.


Como has escuchado, el campus permanecerá cerrado el resto del año escolar. Esto no significa que la escuela esté cerrada; Continuaremos el año virtualmente con estudiantes comprometidos y aprendiendo.

Servicios de comida

El servicio de almuerzo continuará en la Escuela Intermedia Eich durante las vacaciones de primavera, excepto el viernes 10 de abril. 14 de abril - Comienza el aprendizaje virtual

Los maestros se han estado preparando para el aprendizaje virtual para ser el martes 14 de abril. En este momento, los maestros se centrarán en lectura, escritura y matemáticas; Se pueden incluir otras actividades como actividades opcionales si desea que su hijo haga más. También hubo actividades de educación física, música y español. La educación física y la música se cargarán en el aula de Google del maestro de su hijo, sin embargo, el español tiene su propio aula de Google que ha estado abierto todo el año.
