October 3-7 - Community Connection

Sargeant Families,

What a great week at Sargeant Elementary School.  We continue to raise funds with our Step It Up Fundraiser, we had an amazing IB Assembly where our students were recognized for being principled and Mrs. Danielson's class made a delicious lemonade for their lemonade stand.  It was so good that they sold out!  We also had a safety drill this week.  The students did an amazing job as we practiced our evacuation fire drill on Thursday.  Progress reports went home today.  Please review your student's progress and information provided by your student's teacher.

Let's get ready for another great week!

Wednesday is a big day.  Wednesday is Walk to School Day.  For those of you who live within walking distance, consider walking to school on Wednesdays.  It is a great way to get a little exercise in the morning, avoid the drop off line and I might see you along the way as I too will be walking to school on as many Wednesdays as I can.   Another exciting thing for Wednesday is the PTC Dine Out Night at Leatherby's. I look forward to meeting families and seeing students while having some ice cream.

Please take a moment to check out the additional information below:

Monday - Step it Up Kick Off

Hello Parents and Families!

We are excited to offer a way to give back to GEORGE SARGEANT ELEMENTARY SCHOOL! On 9/19/2022 we will be kicking off an event to help raise funds that will benefit all of our students and staff. Our Step It UP! program, will help with funding Classroom supplies and learning tools. In addition to: New technology, curriculum enhancements, and innovative learning materials.  It is going to be AWESOME; we are excited to get started!

A few things to note:
  • This program will be very easy for you. It only requires about 10 minutes of your time.
  • Your students can earn great rewards, just for their effort. No money required!
  • This is an online, donation-based fundraiser, and the email and text message donation requests can go to people you know anywhere in the world. That means no direct pressure on your shoulders.

Students will be bringing home more information next week after our Launch Party presentation. Please help your student register and complete the Golden Ticket assignment THAT VERY NIGHT! All students who complete the Golden Ticket assignment will receive fun PRIZES and it does not require any money to register. We will also have some fun drawings for an Apple iPad and four Mini Party Fridges stuffed with CASH!

I will be sending a few more emails throughout the two-week program. Please contact me directly if you have any questions. Thank you in advance for your support!

Sincerely,

Krista Barker

Wellness Club kicked off this week! We had a total of 81 students join us this week for a social-emotional learning lesson. What an amazing turn out! All of the students learned one of the Toolbox Tools for emotion regulation, called the Breathing Tool. The attached video helps explain the purpose of the tool and how it can be helpful to students and adults when we may be feeling overwhelmed or having strong feelings. Next week, we will be focusing on the next Toolbox Tool, the Quiet & Safe Space Tool.

September 5th-9th - Community Connection

No School on Monday, September 5 - Labor Day

Sargeant Families,

We had a great IB Assembly on August 31st.  It was so much fun to have parents attend and to recognize our students for being caring.  Our September attribute is principled.

Students who are PRINCIPLED have a sense of fairness and are honest with themselves and with others. They understand that sometimes there are rules and they follow them.

How can families help at home?
  • Teach and model for your child what it looks like to be a respectful winner or loser in a game.
  • Acknowledge your child when they tell the truth even though they know it will get them in trouble.
Thank you for another great week, Bulldogs!
