Sargeant Families Blog - January 26th

Lunch with the Principal (missed a pic with the 4th and 5th graders)

Safety Update
When dropping off and picking up your children, please do not park in the red zone by the exit.  It make it very dangerous for parents to pull out of the parking lot when cars are parked there.  They cannot see cars that are coming from the other direction.  Thank you!

LCAP Committee
A message went out this week to all families in our district regarding the LCAP Committee for the school district.  Check out the letter below for more information.

A Message from Eich 8th Graders
Attention Bulldogs! There is a community service project going on to help out a local homeless shelter. Recently a large donation of socks was stolen and we want to give them back some of that donation. So please donate one or more pairs of new socks to the box in front of the office. The drive will last from 1/29-2/9. If you have any questions, please contact me, Abigail Owen, at my email abiagail10owen@gmail.com.

Sargeant Families Blog - January 21st

Thank you for all of the families that dined out at Chipotle last week.  Your support raised $500 for PTC!  We appreciate all that you do to support our staff and students.

Watch DOGS
Watch DOGS stands for Dads of Great Students and it is a chance to get our fathers and father figures on campus in the lives of our children.  It's a chance to volunteer to support kids in the classroom and on the playground.  You can volunteer to come in on a regular basis or once during the year.  Studies show that having positive adult males as role models can have a huge impact on the lives of children.  Please check out this interest form for more information about our kick off night.

Register for Next Year
Registration is now open for next school year.  All of you should have received an e-mail from our district office asking you to log online and register.   Please make sure to go online as soon as possible as we are already planning classes for next year.  Having an accurate enrollment count helps us prepare staffing.

Visit www.rcsdk8.org and click on the student registration link to be directed to the registration portal. Once there, you will notice a button for “2018-2019 Returning Students.”

If you know anyone who will be enrolling a new student in TK or Kinder next year, please have them go to the same site.  If you know anyone interested in transferring to our school, transfer applications are now available, but open enrollment ends on January 27th.

If you have any questions, please call our office at 771-1800.

Support the RCSD Foundation and our music program by attending the 2nd Annual Comfort Food Cook Off on January 26th.  Each school in our district will have a table serving either an appetizer, entree, or dessert!  Sargeant will be serving up a delicious dessert!

IB Corner
January's Attribute: Open-Minded

An OPEN MINDED student knows that all people are different.  They listen to the points of view of others and consider many possibilities before making a decision.  They celebrate the differences in everyone.

How can families help at home?
  • Expose your child to different festivals, celebrations and traditions.
  • Encourage your child to value others’ opinions.

  • Teach them about your family culture.

Parking Lot/Safety Reminders
We want to continue to make sure our kids stay safe when coming and leaving school.  Please check out the reminders below:
- As you are dropping off or picking up your child, please remember to follow the laws of the road: off your phone and follow the speed limit.
- When entering the parking lot, it should be one car at a time following the loop.  If someone is turning in by making a left hand turn, please take turns allowing them to turn (one turning right, then one turning left).
- Please pull forward as far as you can to allow more cars in.
- Please do not get out of your car and wait with your student.  If you would like to come onto campus to walk your student to the front of the school, please park in the lot (in a designated spot) or on the road.
- Allow for plenty of time in the morning.  The warning bell rings at 8:45 for kids to start heading to class.  Plan to drop off before that time to allow plenty of time for your child to get to class before 8:50.
- If you want to walk across the parking lot, please do so at the crosswalk by the multi or at the end of the drop off loop (by where the kinders line up). Walking between cars is very unsafe and also slows down the cars coming into the parking lot.

Thank you for your cooperation!

Please check out the latest update from our hard working PTC!  We are thankful for all of you who volunteer your time to support PTC and our school.

Spread the news to family and friends.  Mention Sargeant when ordering.  Look for the flyer in next Wednesday's folder.
