11/8/21-11/13/21

 CLOCKS MOVED BACK!

With it getting darker earlier and our weather continuing to change, it is crucial that children are getting enough sleep and ready for school each day.  Please be sure to send a jacket or sweatshirt to school with your child.  The weather has proven to be temperamental lately and can change on a dime.  We are continuing to encourage students to make healthy decisions….whether that is food, clothing or sleep related.  Routines are key for helping children function and to come prepared to learn each day.  We are here to support you!

La Clase de Espanol con Señora Neira

Please take a look here to read about the content being taught in Spanish this month.

Math Before Bed: We all know the importance of literacy and incorporating reading into daily routines at home. However, have you considered ways to promote mathematical reasoning and strong number sense at home too? Mathbeforebed.com is a great resource to help spark discussions about math with your child and family at home! Click here to check out a quick video of Ms. Ellison explaining the site. Happy problem-solving!

Dine Out Fundraiser this week!

Please visit Leatherby’s Tuesday, 11/9, and show this flyer to earn money for our school.  They have great food and AMAZING ice cream.

Lost & Found

Please stop by and check the lost and found.  We have LOTS of water bottles, masks, and clothing that are missing homes.  Lost & Found is located inside the quad area.  The best area to check it is before or after school.  If you need to check it at another time, please just come into the office and we can help you with this.

Early Release 2:00

Tomorrow’s dismissal is 2:00.  Thank you for your continued support!

Report Cards

Report cards will be emailed home on Friday, 11/12.  Teachers will discuss your child’s progress and report card at your Parent/Teacher conference that will take place the week of 11/15-11/19.  If you have not scheduled a conference yet, please contact your child’s teacher as soon as possible to get one scheduled.

Next week is EARLY DISMISSAL everyday

Conferences will take place the week of 11/15-11/19.  Students will get out of school every day at 12:32.  Please make arrangements to have your child picked up early.

Sargeant Needs Your Help!

ELAC

Attention parents: We need you for our English Language Advisory Committee.  This committee is responsible for the following tasks:

  • Advising the principal and staff in the development of a site plan for English learners and submitting the plan to the School Site Council for consideration of inclusion in the School Plan for Student Achievement.

  • Assisting in the development of the schoolwide needs assessment.

  • Ways to make parents aware of the importance of regular school attendance.

Our first ELAC meeting is scheduled for 12/7/21 at 4:30 via zoom.

School Site Council

We are in need of 2 additional parents to be on our School Site Council.  This group meets 5 times a year (we have already met once) to read, recommend and approve our Single Plan for Student Achievement (SPSA) and to help make decisions about the needs of our school.  It is important to have parent representation.  Our next meeting is scheduled for 12/7/21 at 3:30 via zoom.

*If you are interested in being on either of these committees please email Julie Murdaugh at jmurdaugh@rcsdk8.org

Canned Food Drive

We are currently collecting canned foods for those in need.  Your child’s teacher has a box in her classroom and we are collecting through next Friday, 11/19.  Please donate if you are able.
