Sargeant Families Blog - February 11th

Thank you to those of you who were able to come out and help move rocks on Friday.  We were able to get it all done in 15 minutes!  We will be working with our maintenance department over the next couple of weeks to get the rock garden completed. Can't wait to show off the finished product!

This past week we participated in Global School Play Day - The kids and staff had a lot of fun!

IB Corner - February's Attribute
Students who are KNOWLEDGEABLE  have explored relevant and significant
concepts and can apply this knowledge to new situations.

How can families help at home?
  • Encourage your child to read books at home that correspond with the topics being covered in school.
  • Encourage your child to read books at home in your home language.
  • Ask your child about what they are learning in school and engage them in conversations about it:

“Why do you think that is an important thing to know about?”

Girls on the Run
Unfortunately we will not have a Girls on the Run team this year as we didn't have enough girls sign up in order to make a full team.  We will try again next year.

CAASPP Notification and Parent Letter (3rd-5th Grade)
This May our 3rd-5th grade will be taking the CAASPP test.  Please read through the following document from our district office regards to the testing.  We will start testing at Sargeant on April 30th and finish by May 18th.  Students will be using Chromebooks in their classroom to complete the test.  Please look for information coming home in April from your child's teacher for specific dates your child we be testing (they are not testing every day in the timeframe mentioned).

Student Council Update
The Student Council Cookie Dough Fundraiser ends February 16. Checks should be made payable to Sargeant Student Body. Any proceeds beyond the $2,000 will benefit our student body directly. Thank you for supporting our students!

A personal thank you from Mrs. Kirkendall:
Student Council,     You guys are so generous and kind to keep thinking of me. It really means so much to me. I know your teachers and parents are very proud. I sure am!
