The Sargeant Staff would like to send a huge thank you for spoiling us during Teacher and Staff Appreciation Week!  We love our families and appreciate you!

As the end of the year is quickly approaching, students are getting excited for summer.  We are noticing some kids are having a hard time following the school rules - we'll call it Spring Fever. 😀Please remind your child to continue to be principled and follow the rules: Be Safe, Be Responsible, and Be Respectful (and Be Kind).  We want to end the year on a great note.

Students who are REFLECTIVE give thoughtful consideration to their own learning and

consider their personal strengths and weaknesses in a constructive manner.

How can families help at home?

• Have your child tell you three good things that happened at school.

• If your child is involved in a sport or activity, ask them what area they need to improve upon.  How do they know? What can be done to improve?

Site Council
We are looking for parents to join our School Site Council for the 2018-19 school year.  As a member of the Site Council you commit to serving for two years.  We will meet 4-5 times during the school year to review the School Site Plan (goals and spending), the Safety Plan, and we will develop the Parent Survey for the school year and review the data.  This is a great opportunity to get involved with the school.

Library News
All library books are due May 25th.  Please help your child find any missing books and send them in by the due date.  Any lost or damaged books will need to be paid for before report cards are sent home at the end of the year. 

Get Involved with PTC!
We are looking for nomination for PTC President and Vice President and well as chair people for events/activities.  Please don't be scare of the title of President or Vice President - you can do it!  If you would like more information or want to talk about details of the position, please contact Rachael Peck at rpeck@rcsdk8.org. 

President - The president shall have the responsibility for the organization.  Items include setting the agenda and running the PTC meetings.

Vice President - The vice president will be elected to assist the president and will chair the pTC meetings when the president is absent.   The vice president will oversee the membership drive and assist in committee organization.

We will have one more PTC meeting on June 5th.  At this meeting we can finalize chair positions for events/activities.

APEX Fun Run 

The kick off rally for the kids is this Monday and the run will be on Wednesday, May 23rd.  There will be three runs in the morning based on grade levels.  If you can help, we will need volunteers to help mark laps for the kids.  Each run is about 30-35 minutes long.  Please check out this Sign Up Genius to volunteer.

CAASPP Testing for 3rd-5th graders has started and will continue to May 18th.  Please make sure to check with your child's teacher to find out which specific dates your child will be testing.

Consejo del sitio
Estamos buscando padres que se unan a nuestro Consejo Escolar para el año escolar 2018-1919. Como miembro del Consejo del sitio, se compromete a servir durante dos años. Nos reuniremos de 4 a 5 veces durante el año escolar para revisar el Plan del plantel escolar (metas y gastos), el Plan de seguridad, y desarrollaremos la Encuesta para padres para el año escolar y revisaremos los datos. Esta es una gran oportunidad para involucrarse con la escuela.

Noticias de la biblioteca
Todos los libros de la biblioteca vencen el 25 de mayo. Ayude a su hijo a encontrar los libros que faltan y envíelos antes de la fecha de vencimiento. Todos los libros perdidos o dañados deberán pagarse antes de que se envíen las libretas de calificaciones a casa al final del año.

Estamos buscando nominaciones para Presidente y Vicepresidente de PTC y como presidentes de eventos / actividades. No tenga miedo del título de Presidente o Vicepresidente, ¡puede hacerlo! Presidente: el presidente tendrá la responsabilidad de la organización. Los artículos incluyen establecer la agenda y ejecutar las reuniones de PTC.

APEX Fun Run
El rally de lanzamiento para los niños es este lunes y la carrera será el miércoles, 23 de mayo. Habrá tres carreras en la mañana basadas en los niveles de grado. Si puede ayudar, necesitaremos voluntarios para ayudar a marcar las vueltas para los niños. Cada carrera dura entre 30 y 35 minutos. Por favor revisa este Sign Up Genius para ser voluntario.
