Happy New Year! Hope you all had a wonderful time with family and friends these past two weeks. I enjoyed my time relaxing with my family, playing games, reading and even cleaning the house! ☺ Although I always appreciate the time off to spend with my two boys, I definitely missed all of the kids at Sargeant. I can't wait to see them on Tuesday! Enjoy these last few days.

January: Open-minded
An OPEN MINDED student knows that all people are different. They listen to the points of view of others and consider many possibilities before making a decision. They celebrate the differences in everyone.
How can families help at home?
- Expose your child to different festivals, celebrations and traditions.
- Encourage your child to value others’ opinions.
- Teach them about your family culture.
Book Reading
Before break all students were able to listen to the book, I am Human, read to them in their class by Mrs. Peck. The book talks about how we are all human, have feelings, make mistakes, etc. A couple of things that were highlighted, that can be highlighted at home too is the fact that being kind to others can change their day for the better. The kids shared different ways they could be kind to others. The act of apologizing was also highlighted. The kids walked through three steps of apologizing that included the following: I am sorry. Will you forgive me? What can I do to make it better?

Enero: Mente abierta
Un estudiante de MENTE ABIERTA sabe que todas las personas son diferentes. Escuchan los puntos de vista de los demás y consideran muchas posibilidades antes de tomar una decisión. Celebran las diferencias en todos.

Lectura de libros
Antes de la pausa, todos los alumnos pudieron escuchar el libro, Soy humano, les leí en su clase con la Sra. Peck. El libro habla de cómo todos somos humanos, tenemos sentimientos, cometemos errores, etc. Algunas de las cosas que se destacaron, que también se pueden destacar en el hogar, es el hecho de que ser amable con los demás puede cambiar su día para mejor. Los niños compartían diferentes maneras en que podían ser amables con los demás. El acto de disculparse también se destacó. Los niños caminaron a través de tres pasos de disculpas que incluían lo siguiente: Lo siento. ¿Me olvidarás? ¿Qué puedo hacer para mejorarlo?
