2/27/22-3/5/22

Happy March!  The weather is warm in the afternoons which means lots of layers are being shed throughout recess and lunchtime.  Please label your child's belongings so we can return them to the owners.  We have A LOT of clothing, lunchboxes, and water bottles that want to get back home.  Lost and Found is full and would love your help.  Come by before or after school to look through it. Thank you!

Starstruck is Happening!

We are so excited to have Starstruck this year.  We will have an outdoor performance during the evening on 3/15 and 3/16.  Please look for all communication by your child’s teacher, as students are wearing color-coded “costumes” for their performance.  Here is the order form with directions on how to get your pre-sale tickets for entry to the evening performances. Every child is performing on EITHER 3/15 or 3/16.  Classes only perform on one night.

IB Attribute of the Month

March: Thinkers

Students who are THINKERS work to solve problems independently.  They can imagine many solutions to a question or challenge.  Thinkers make good decisions and can predict the outcomes of their actions. They think creatively and critically.

How can families help at home?

  • Encourage your child to try to think of solutions to problems independently.

  • Ask your child questions when they are working on a problem:

“Do you have any ideas about how we might begin?”

“How can we do this differently?”

“What other ways can you show that?”

“What made you think that?”

Our PBIS focus for this month: Be Respectful

This month we are focusing on respect for our school, our classmates, and our communities.  This means respecting materials, supplies, bathrooms, each other, the school and classroom rules and essential agreements as well as respecting ourselves.  As IB learners, we can use our attribute of being a THINKER to help with this.  Think: Am I showing respect for myself?  Does this action show respect for my teacher? My classmates?  My school?  Each student possesses the strength and resolve to think for themselves and apply that to their actions.  As adults, we can model that by thinking out loud.  Try this at home!  Thank you for your continued support!

Bike Safety

Please remind your children to ride safely to and from schools.  It has been reported that students are playing chicken with cars while riding their bikes.  They are riding straight into oncoming traffic and causing drivers to worry.  Thank you for your support.

Congratulations to….

Kayleigh Olsen for winning the yearbook cover contest.  There were so many amazing covers submitted.  Thank you to all staff for voting and for every single student that showed love for our school by participating.

Muibi Hassan for moving on to the next round for the spelling bee.  He will participate in the county-level contest in March.  Wish him luck on his next level.  We are so proud of you Muibi!
