GOTR Community Project

Our very own Sargeant Girls on the Run Team is leading a community impact project. They are choosing to help the SPCA raise money for animals in need. This Tuesday, May 3rd they are going to set up a table in front of the school at 3:15 and ask parents for items or cash that they will donate to the SPCA. Let’s help our local shelter!!

Field Day

Our annual field day is back!  We will celebrate the end of the year with FIELD DAY on Monday, May 23rd!  We need your help.  Please find the sign-up sheet here Field Day Sign Up Genius.  We truly appreciate all the help!

Miss Hillary & Our Sargeant Support Center

Miss Hillary, our Mental Health Specialist will be out on a medical leave until mid-May.  Due to medical complications, she has experienced the loss of her pregnancy.  She has asked that I share this with all of you so that we can support her when she returns without asking questions or commenting on things that may be hard for her to talk about. We are putting together a gift basket for her and her family during this difficult time.  Thank you for your support.

IB Attribute for May: Reflective

Students who are REFLECTIVE give thoughtful consideration to their own learning and

consider their personal strengths and weaknesses in a constructive manner.

How can families help at home?

  • Have your child tell you three good things that happened at school.

  • If your child is involved in a sport or activity, ask them what area they need to improve upon.  How do they know?  What can be done to improve?

PBIS Connection

This month we are focused on being Kind! We can create a connection between being REFLECTIVE and KIND.  This is an important step for students as they learn to think about their actions and reflect on their choices.  We can ask our children questions like,

  • “How do you think that made your friend feel?”

  • “What were you thinking about at the time?”

  • “What can you do to make this situation better?”

These all require reflective thinking, which greatly benefit children and their ability to be social and personally aware of their actions and words on others.  Help your child practice this skill at home :)

CAASPP Testing Continues

This week our CAASPP testing continues for 3rd, 4th and 5th grades.  Please be sure to have your student at school ON TIME!  If they are late, they are not allowed to enter their classroom after their class has begun testing.  Ensure that your child eats a healthy breakfast and is ready to do their best.  That is all we ask.  Thank you for your support!
