Sargeant Updates:
January 19th Bulldog Buck Drawing:
Congratulations to our students who earned Bulldog Bucks for being safe, acting responsibly, respecting all, and kindness. We had our Friday drawing at lunch today. It is so much fun! Students spun the wheel and won a Yoda helicopter, a choice item from the Bulldog Cart, and a 10 minute extra recess for their class. Way to go Bulldogs! Keep up the great work with your BARK expectations.
Sargeant Spirit Wednesday was so much fun!
We are so excited about the positive attendance at Sargeant! We love it when our students are at school. We have so much to celebrate about attendance for the last month:
9 classes had over 95% attendance:
Average attendance for all grades was 91.48%
All grades were above 90% attendance
Keep working on being at school on time every day. The best part of my day is seeing each of you get out of your cars ready for the day! It is great to be a Bulldog!

PTC Dine Out Night:
5th Grade Families:
Eich IB Informational Night 2/1/2024
Good afternoon Eich feeder school families. We are incredibly excited to welcome all of you to Eich on Thursday, February 1st at 5:45 pm. We will start our event in the gymnasium (I hope it's packed!!) where I have some opening remarks and then send you off with student leaders who will lead your tours for the evening. During Eich's IB Information Night, we are proud to have over 150 Eich students present to show off all that we are about as well as all of our teachers present to talk about the IB advantage and what makes our school so unique. We plan this event months ahead of time so we are anxious to see all of you. Some of the things you will see are:
1. Woodshop students actually working on projects as you visit the shop area.
2. A drama scene from our last play performed by our drama students.
3. A sample of a French class with our French teacher and an entire class of current French students.
4. A performance from our Advanced Ballroom Dance class.
5. Performances from our Advanced Band students.
6. Students working on a Comm. Tech project as well as a small Art Show from our Art students.
7. Teachers explaining IB grading, IB Design projects, a Day in the Life of an Eich student, academic pathways, and much more.
8. Former Eich students present to talk about the transition to high school and taking advantage of the Eich IB advantage.
9. Leadership students leading all tours.
As you can see, it will be jam-packed with information and performances. Because of how many people we are expecting, we are asking that your students do not attend this evening. We have a special day planned just for kids called STEP UP DAY on March 7th, 2024 where we will invite every student from our feeder schools to see all of these performances. I will also personally visit all feeder schools before Step Up Day and answer questions that any student may have.
Please do your best to make this event. I promise to have you home as early as possible (It's scheduled to end at 8:06 pm). We love our partnership with our parents and this is a great way to start that relationship.
If you have any questions, please reach out to me at dbrown@rcsdk8.org.

As we explore and celebrate all that these first months of 2024 bring, I want to highlight the continued significance of maintaining excellent attendance, especially considering the various holidays and breaks on the horizon.
In alignment with our district-wide "Every Day Matters" Attendance Campaign, and the resources available on our "Every Day Matters" website, we aim to provide you with valuable tips and support. Regular school attendance is not merely a routine requirement; it serves as a cornerstone for your child's academic progress. Missing even just a day or two can significantly impact learning.
Here's how you can establish good attendance and health habits for your child during this period:
Seasonal Wellness Check: Use the start of the year to schedule a wellness check for your child. Ensure they are up to date on vaccinations and discuss any health concerns with their healthcare provider. A healthy start can contribute to consistent attendance and better overall well-being.
Weather-Ready Attire: As we navigate the winter months, encourage your child to dress appropriately for the weather. Ensure they have warm and comfortable clothing, especially during colder days. Being weather-ready helps prevent illnesses and ensures they are comfortable in school.
Mindful Screen Time Breaks: With shorter days and potential indoor activities, be mindful of your child's screen time. Encourage breaks for physical activities, reading, or creative pursuits. Balancing screen time with other engaging activities contributes to both physical and mental well-being.
Calendar Collaboration: Involve your child in planning for upcoming holidays and breaks. Use a family calendar to mark important dates, including school breaks, vacations, and special occasions. Collaboratively managing the calendar helps create anticipation and ensures everyone is on the same page regarding commitments.
By incorporating these tips into your routine, you can contribute to your child's health and well-being, while staying mindful of the various holidays and breaks. If you ever have questions or concerns, our school staff is here to support you.
