Reading has a powerful impact on the achievement of students as it is a skill found in almost every subject area.  Take time to read with your child every night or have them read to you.  Make it a family time.  Read a book, read a magazine, read the newspaper....anything that you enjoy.

GATE Testing 2nd- 5th Grade- Gifted and Talented Education

The 2019-2020 school year GATE identification test will be administered at the District Office for students currently in 2nd – 7th  grade.  The students will take the Otis-Lennon School Ability Test, OLSAT, that tests abstract thinking and reasoning ability.  Students must attend one of the testing dates on the OLSAT Parent Permission Form in order to complete the testing by the district.  The Parent Permission Forms will be made available on November 1, 2018 on our district website @ www.rcsdk8.org under the “Parent” tab.  All forms must be returned to the District Office by January 11, 2019 if you would like your student tested. There are no exceptions as materials are ordered based on the number of returned forms. Make sure you check the RCSD website for more information regarding GATE services and testing.  Click on the Main Menu and then under Programs – Gifted and Talented Education.

Bathroom Makeovers
We are looking to do a bathroom makeover for our kids' bathrooms.  We have three sets of bathrooms on campus, one of them has walls we can paint and the others have tile.  We cannot paint the tile.  We were thinking of painting the walls (in the one) and also posting positive messages on the doors. Mrs. Peck is not familiar with a Cricut but has heard that it would work to make the messages.  Please e-mail Mrs. Peck if you are interested in being a part of this project.  We are hoping to do the bathrooms over Thanksgiving and/or Winter Break.  Below is an example of an idea for a bathroom door. 

Free After School Club - Tuesdays - Grades 3rd-5th

We have some room available for our club by Destiny Community Center. If you are interested in having your child attend, and they are in 3rd-5th grade, please e-mail Mrs. Peck to get an application.

La lectura tiene un impacto poderoso en el logro de los estudiantes, ya que es una habilidad que se encuentra en casi todas las áreas temáticas. Identificación GATE 2019

La prueba de identificación GATE del año escolar 2019-2020 se administrará en la Oficina del Distrito para los estudiantes que actualmente cursan del 2º al 7º grado. Los estudiantes tomarán la Prueba de Habilidad Escolar Otis-Lennon, OLSAT, esa prueba evalúa la capacidad de razonamiento y pensamiento abstracto. Los estudiantes deben asistir a una de las fechas de las pruebas en el Formulario de Permiso de los Padres de OLSAT para  completar las pruebas del distrito. Los formularios de Permiso de los Padres estarán disponibles el 1 de Noviembre de 2018 en el sitio web de nuestro distrito @ www.rcsdk8.org  en la pestaña "Padres". Todos los formularios deben regresarse a la Oficina del Distrito antes del 11 de Enero del 2019 si desea que su estudiante sea examinado. No hay excepciones, ya que los materiales se ordenan según el número de formularios recibidos. Asegúrese de consultar el sitio web de RCSD para obtener más información sobre los servicios y pruebas de GATE. Haga clic en el Menú Principal y luego en Programas - Educación para Superdotados y Talentosos.

Renovaciones de baño



Estamos buscando hacer un cambio de baño para los baños de nuestros hijos. Tenemos tres juegos de baños en el campus, uno de ellos tiene paredes que podemos pintar y los otros tienen baldosas. No podemos pintar el azulejo. Estábamos pensando en pintar las paredes (en la una) y también publicar mensajes positivos en las puertas. La Sra. Peck no está familiarizada con un Cricut pero ha escuchado que funcionaría para hacer los mensajes. Envíe un correo electrónico a la Sra. Peck si está interesado en ser parte de este proyecto. Esperamos hacer los baños durante el Día de Acción de Gracias y / o las vacaciones de invierno. A continuación se muestra un ejemplo de una idea para la puerta de un baño.
