Thank you to everyone who helped with the musical and to those who came out to support the students.  It was a wonderful production and we all enjoyed watching our students perform on stage!  


APEX
This week continues our fun with APEX. The students are enjoying their lessons around the theme for the week: UNITED (Unique, No Excuses, Inspire Others, Teachable, Empathize, Do Your Best).  Continue entering pledges on line per lap or flat donation. Anyone around the world can donate with the online program. Money raised will be used for technology items for the school including IPads, Chromebooks, and green screen equipment.

F.A.Q. for APEX 
How can students get pledges?

Parents can help connect students to potential sponsors like family and friends. Pledges should be entered online at apexfunrun.com using the unique access code located on the front of each students Apex pledge kit.

Will my student really run 36 laps? How big is the track?

Yes, even kindergartners! Students will run for 30 mins and average 26-36 laps around the Apex Raceway.  The maximum amount of laps counted is 36 and each lap is 1/16th of a mile.

Can students receive an award for flat donations?

Yes! All flat donations count toward pledges and are rounded by 30 (the average student will run 30 laps). So, a $30 donation is the same as $1 per lap. A $60 donation is the same as $2 per lap, etc.

My student didn’t receive a pledge kit or an access code?  What should I do?

You can talk to your teacher and an Apex athlete will add the student to the Apex system, generate an access code and give the student a pledge kit to bring home.

The run is this Wednesday. There will be three different runs based on grade levels.

Our annual field day is right around the corner. This is a fun morning for the kids and volunteers. Stations are set up around both playgrounds. Every class rotates among the stations. The Sargeant Staff would like to send a huge thank you for spoiling us during Teacher and Staff Appreciation Week!  We love our families and appreciate you!

As the end of the year is quickly approaching, students are getting excited for summer.  We are noticing some kids are having a hard time following the school rules - we'll call it Spring Fever. 😀Please remind your child to continue to be principled and follow the rules: Be Safe, Be Responsible, and Be Respectful (and Be Kind).  We want to end the year on a great note.

How can families help at home?

• Have your child tell you three good things that happened at school.

• If your child is involved in a sport or activity, ask them what area they need to improve upon.  How do they know? What can be done to improve?

Site Council
We are looking for parents to join our School Site Council for the 2018-19 school year.  As a member of the Site Council you commit to serving for two years.  We will meet 4-5 times during the school year to review the School Site Plan (goals and spending), the Safety Plan, and we will develop the Parent Survey for the school year and review the data.  This is a great opportunity to get involved with the school.

Library News
All library books are due May 25th.  Please help your child find any missing books and send them in by the due date.  Any lost or damaged books will need to be paid for before report cards are sent home at the end of the year. 

Get Involved with PTC!
We are looking for nomination for PTC President and Vice President and well as chair people for events/activities.  Please don't be scare of the title of President or Vice President - you can do it!  If you would like more information or want to talk about details of the position, please contact Rachael Peck at rpeck@rcsdk8.org. 

President - The president shall have the responsibility for the organization.  Items include setting the agenda and running the PTC meetings.

Vice President - The vice president will be elected to assist the president and will chair the pTC meetings when the president is absent.   The vice president will oversee the membership drive and assist in committee organization.

We will have one more PTC meeting on June 5th.  At this meeting we can finalize chair positions for events/activities.

APEX Fun Run 

The kick off rally for the kids is this Monday and the run will be on Wednesday, May 23rd.  There will be three runs in the morning based on grade levels.  If you can help, we will need volunteers to help mark laps for the kids.  Each run is about 30-35 minutes long.  Please check out this Sign Up Genius to volunteer.

Run4Roseville is almost here! Good luck to all the runners tomorrow morning. Be sure to stop by the Sargeant booth, say hi and get your picture taken. (There will be photo props!) We can't wait to see you all for a morning of fun and community as we raise money for our music programs 

Kids are loving our Little Free Library.  Thank you to all who donated on Mrs. Danielson's Donor's Choose project and thank you to Mrs. Danielson for making it happen.  The kids watched a video about it at the assembly on Wednesday.  Ask them about it.  

Safety Information
When dropping off and picking up students, please make sure to stop at the crosswalk.  Cars are not coming to a complete stop and kids have been nearly hit.  We want to make sure everyone is safe.  

Musical 
Please join us for our Spring musical on May 17th and 18th.  A group of our 3rd, 4th and 5th graders have been hard at work after school preparing for the upcoming musical.  Check out the link above for ticket information.

Please make sure your child wears tennis shoes on their PE days.  Currently upper grade students (3-5) are learning paddle skills and will move into soccer activities soon and primary students (K-2) are learning and practicing soccer skills.

Musical 
Please join us for our Spring musical on May 17th and 18th.  A group of our 3rd, 4th and 5th graders have been hard at work after school preparing for the upcoming musical.  Check out the link above for ticket information.
                                            

After School Club 
We have a limited number of spots available for our Tuesday after school club sponsored by Destiny Community Center.  The club is for 3rd-5th graders on Tuesdays from 3:20-4:30 in room 18.  Please e-mail Mrs. Peck for an application.  It's a first come first serve.  If you get your application in this Tuesday, your child can start this week.

CAASPP Testing for 3rd-5th graders will start the week of April 23rd and continue to May 18th.  Please make sure to check with your child's teacher to find out which specific dates your child will be testing.
