Sargeant Families Blog - October 7th

Mrs. Peck has enjoyed working with the 1st graders in kindness this month.  Please continue to talk to your child about how they can show kindness at home and school in their actions and words.  We ended the month with making kindness capes that will be delivered to the kindergarteners soon! (Shhh....don't tell them, it's a surprise!)

GATE Testing 

The 2018-2019 school year GATE identification test will be administered at the District Office for students currently in 2nd – 7th  grade.  The students will take the Otis-Lennon School Ability Test, OLSAT, that tests abstract thinking and reasoning ability.  Students must attend one of the testing dates on the OLSAT Parent Permission Form in order to complete the testing by the district.  The Parent Permission Forms will be made available on November 13, 2017 on our district website @ www.rcsdk8.org under the “Parent” tab.  All forms must be returned to the District Office by January 5, 2018 if you would like your student tested. There are no exceptions as materials are ordered based on the number of returned forms.  Make sure you check the district website under the “Parents” tab for more information regarding GATE services and testing.

Girls on the Run!
We would love to get Girls on the Run up and going again this year.  Please let me know if you are interested in being a coach.  We will need two coaches.  Check out the links below for more information. As of now, we only have one person who is interested.

Rock Project 
We have started our rock project soon tied to the book Only One You.  If you can help with supplies, we are still in need of a spray to protect the paint once it is finished.  You can e-mail Mrs. Peck if you are able to donate a can. Thank you!We appreciate it! 

Progress Reports
Progress reports were sent home today for students who are limited in areas that have been taught up to this point in the year.  Please check your child's backpack to see if one came home.  Progress reports should be signed and returned to your child's teacher.  

Upcoming Dates (just a few, remember to check the calendar tab for more dates)

October 7th - Tomorrow!  We are working with Bayside to clean up some rock areas on campus.  We will be taking out all of the rocks, laying down weed barrier and then replacing the rocks.  Simple, tedious, but it makes the campus look good!

October 12th - Dinner Night Out at Trademark Pizza

October 13th - Box Top Turn in Day!  As family and friends to save their Box Tops for our school.  Free money! :)

October 18th - Picture Day 

October 25th - Eich's Haunted House

October 26th  - Our Harvest Festival! 5:00-7:00
