Sargeant Families Blog - January 27th - 31st

If you haven't seen our social media, we wanted to share the great news with you...we received the official notice that we are a World Authorized International Baccalaureate Primary Years Program School (IB PYP).  This means we have completed all of the necessary requirements and training for initial authorization.  Our teachers have been working for the past 4 years to create their trans-disciplinary units for each grade level. The authorization doesn't mean anything is "finished" as being an IB school is a continual journey of learning, reflection and refinement in what we do at our school.  We are very proud of the work our staff has done in the past four years.  😀

Sargeant’s First Family Workshop is about to begin!

The Family Engagement Survey results are in!  After hearing back from over 125 Sargeant families the #1 workshop topic of interest is Family Stress and Anxiety.  This result is not surprising—most families are juggling several responsibilities between raising kids and working to pay the bills. 

In this first Family Workshop, Sargeant’s Wellness Team will help unravel the mystery of “Family Stress” in a two part series:  Building Resilience to Family Stress,  In this workshop you will learn the difference between stress and anxiety and how to talk to your child about stress without creating more worry. Most importantly, you will learn how to productively manage your stress as a family and learn positive ways to work through tough days when inside you might be feeling overwhelmed and wondering “will this get better?”

Dates:  Thursday February 13th 6:00 PM to 7:15 PM

Thursday February 20th  6:00 PM to 7:15 PM

Location: Sargeant School campus

Come early at 5:30 PM for pizza!  And bring your kids!! Childcare will be provided for the little ones (ages 3 to 5 and potty trained) and school age children will have the opportunity to participate in their own age appropriate workshop with Wellness staff.

Si no ha visto nuestras redes sociales, queríamos compartir las buenas noticias con usted ... recibimos el aviso oficial de que somos una Escuela del Programa de Bachillerato Internacional Autorizado Mundial de Primaria (IB PYP). Esto significa que hemos completado todos los requisitos y capacitación necesarios para la autorización inicial. Nuestros maestros han estado trabajando durante los últimos 4 años para crear sus unidades transdisciplinarias para cada nivel de grado. La autorización no significa que nada está "terminado", ya que ser un colegio del IB es un viaje continuo de aprendizaje, reflexión y refinamiento en lo que hacemos en nuestro colegio. Estamos muy orgullosos del trabajo que nuestro personal ha realizado en los últimos cuatro años. 😀

        
                            

¡El primer taller familiar de Sargeant está por comenzar!

¡Ya están disponibles los resultados de la Encuesta de participación familiar! Después de escuchar a más de 125 familias de Sargeant, el tema de taller número 1 de interés es el estrés familiar y la ansiedad. Este resultado no es sorprendente: la mayoría de las familias están haciendo malabarismos con varias responsabilidades entre criar hijos y trabajar para pagar las cuentas.

En este primer taller familiar, el equipo de bienestar de Sargeant ayudará a desentrañar el misterio del “estrés familiar” en una serie de dos partes: Desarrollar la resiliencia al estrés familiar. En este taller aprenderá la diferencia entre el estrés y la ansiedad y cómo hablar con su hijo. sobre el estrés sin crear más preocupación. Lo que es más importante, aprenderá cómo manejar su estrés productivamente como familia y aprenderá formas positivas de trabajar durante los días difíciles cuando en su interior se sienta abrumado y se pregunte "¿mejorará esto?"
